How to Stay Organised During the Festive Season: Mei’s UKLASH Guide

The closer we get to the festive period, the more our office soundtrack turns into a mix of cosy playlists, countdown chats and the occasional ‘how many weeks till Christmas?’ shout across the room. Through it all, one person stays effortlessly composed - Mei, our brilliant Head of Supply Chain. Her organisational skills are unmatched, whether she’s coordinating stock for the Christmas season or keeping her own desk organiser in perfect shape. Today, she shares how she stays grounded during Christmas and New Year, what helps her celebrate Christmas without the chaos, and why preparation is always her secret superpower…..

1. How would you describe what you do as Head of Supply Chain during the festive period?

The preparation started 5-6 months ago when I worked on forecasting demand (running out of the UK's #1 Lash Serum before Christmas is a no-no!), aligning timelines with suppliers and logistics partners. Then, as it gets closer to Christmas, I focus on keeping everything flowing smoothly, working quickly to resolve any issues, and making sure teams feel supported and informed.

2. Have you always been this structured, even outside of work?

I think structure is something I’ve grown into. Earlier in my career, I relied more on reacting quickly, but over time I’ve learned that clarity and planning reduce stress. Outside of work, I’m organised in a flexible way. I like having a framework that allows me to enjoy things rather than feeling rushed by them.

3. The festive season can get overwhelming fast. What helps you stay centred during Christmas and New Year?

Life is busy, and the festive season adds another layer of pressure. What helps me stay centred is breaking big challenges down into smaller, manageable steps, and reminding myself that getting things done well is often more important than aiming for perfection.

4. Do you have any organisation tools or habits you swear by?

I’ve experimented with plenty of apps in the past, but I’ve learned that it’s better to keep things simple - Apple Notes and Reminders work perfectly for me. I’m also a big believer in the ‘eat the frog’ theory, tackling the most important or challenging task first really helps create momentum for the rest of the day.

5. What’s one non-negotiable ritual that keeps you grounded during busy months?

Making time for a daily walk, even if it’s short!

6. Do you ever have periods of chaos where you feel overwhelmed or unorganised, and if so, how do you get back on track?

When that happens, I pause and reset. Planning helps me regain control, but I’ve learned that if I’m not mentally ready, it’s usually a signal that I need to stop and recharge first. Once I’ve taken some time out and stepped away from what I need to do, everything feels far more manageable when I come back to it.

7. Supply chain challenges can pile up quickly. How do you prioritise when everything feels urgent?

When challenges pile up, I step back and ask two questions: what matters most to the customer, and what could create the biggest ripple effect if delayed. That usually helps me prioritise quickly. I also make a conscious effort to stay calm, because clear thinking is just as important as fast action.

8. What’s your favourite thing about this time of year in the office?

Definitely the Christmas party. It’s great to catch up in person with colleagues who are usually remote

9. The big question - when do you start christmas shopping and do you have any top tips for shopping well during the festive season?

I didn’t grow up with Christmas shopping as part of my culture, so it’s not something I usually do. I’m quite practical, though, if I am buying gifts, I tend to go for gift cards. They’re easy, thoughtful in their own way, and people can choose exactly what they want

10. At home, the pace can be just as busy. How do you personally find balance during the Christmas season?

I don’t aim for perfection during the festive season. Instead, I focus on balance by giving myself permission to slow down and by carving out small moments for myself — even a short walk can make a big difference

11. When you switch off from work, how do you relax and wind down?

Walking, cooking, and singing are my go-to ways to unwind

12. What’s your favourite way to make your home feel calm and cosy during the Christmas season?

I like to keep things simple with warm lighting and uncluttered spaces. I need a calm and tidy environment!

13. Do you have a favourite film or ritual that marks the start of the festive period for you?

Watching classic Christmas films like Home Alone is always my signal that the festive season has started. I also make sure to stock up on panettone and pandoro - they’re a small ritual that instantly makes the season feel special

14. And lastly, how are you looking to Never Stop Growing into 2026? And plans or new years resolutions?

Never Stop Growing, for me, means staying curious and embracing continuous learning. As I look towards 2026, I want to stay open to new ways of working, keep pace with the market, and continue finding the right balance between ambition and wellbeing!

In a season defined by deadlines, celebrations and constant motion, Mei’s calm and considered approach stands out. Her focus on preparation and balance highlights that true organisation is less about control and more about intention. As we move into the festive period and set our sights on the year ahead, Mei’s outlook is a powerful reflection of our Never Stop Growing mindset, which is all about embracing progress, staying curious and finding harmony between ambition and wellbeing.
