Hair For You Through Every Age & Stage Of Life.

Hair loss can happen at any time for a number of reasons. Whatever your journey looks like, we’re here to help you feel seen, supported, and empowered. This page has all the hair loss guidance and problem-solving tips you need to feel healthier, bolder and stronger again.

Types of Hair Loss

Androgenic Alopecia

Hair thins gradually at the crown or hairline due to genetics and hormone changes like during Menopause.

Red Flag Symptoms: red, scaly scalp, rapid hair loss

Telogen Effluvium

Sudden shedding all over the scalp occurs a few months after stress, illness, or a big life event.

Red Flag Symptoms: fatigue, weight change, long-term shedding

Alopecia Areata

The immune system mistakenly attacks hair follicles, causing round bald patches on the scalp or body.

Red Flag Symptoms: nail changes, fatigue, all-over body hair loss

Anagen Effluvium

Temporary disruption of the hair cycle that can affect hair on your head, lashes and brows. Typically linked to a reaction to drugs, like Chemotherapy treatment.

Red Flag Symptoms: Blisters, swelling. Hair loss can be sudden and fast.

Trichotillomania

This is a mental health condition where a person may feel a strong urge to pull out their hair, sometimes including eyelashes and eyebrows, often as a way of coping with stress or emotional discomfort.

Red Flag Symptoms: Denying visible hair loss, feelings of severe anxiety or stress

Traction Alopecia

Tight hairstyles like braids or weaves pull on the roots, leading to hair loss along the hairline or temples.

Red Flag Symptoms: pimples around the hairline, hair loss at the hairline

The Hair Growth Cycle

Hair loss doesn’t follow a rulebook. It can appear slowly or all at once, and the reasons behind it are as individual as you are.

The Hair Growth Cycle includes three stages: the Anagen, Catagen and Telogen Phases, which are also known as the Growth, Transition and Resting Phases.

When something disrupts that natural rhythm, whether physical, hormonal, or emotional, hair can start to shed prematurely, ultimately leading to hair loss.

Whether you’re noticing sparser lashes, thinning brows, or shedding from your scalp, knowing why it’s happening is the first step toward regrowth.

Hair Care Tips From Dr. Pial

If you could offer one piece of hair advice for each decade of a woman’s life from their 20s to their 80s, what would it be?

20s: Build good habits early, like protecting your skin and hair from heat and UV.

30s: Start focusing on scalp care, not just hair length.

40s: Hydration is key when your hormones may start to affect hair texture.

50s: Consider taking supplements and nourish from within.

60s: Embrace your natural hair if you feel you want to, but support it with moisture.

70s+: Gentle care is everything. Start considering soft brushes, silk pillowcases, and regular trims
