As women enter their 40s and beyond, our bodies begin to shift in powerful and sometimes unexpected ways. Menopause is a completely natural transition, yet it often brings changes that affect not just how we feel, but also how we look and care for ourselves.

Attendees networking at the UKLASH event

At UKLASH, we believe this stage of life deserves more open and honest conversation. That’s why we hosted a special event yesterday morning, dedicated to menopause, to support our community through every age and every stage.

Held at the beautiful 180 House in Central London, the event brought together an inspiring panel of experts and familiar faces, including Anna Richardson, Anthea Turner, Dermatologist Dr Wedad, Dr Zoe Williams, and Trichologist Angela Onuoha. Together, they discussed the ups, downs, and everything in between that comes with this transformative chapter.

If you couldn’t join us in person, don’t worry, we’ve rounded up the key takeaways from the day. Here are four key learnings from the event that we hope can help you nurture your skin, hair, and overall wellbeing with confidence and care.

“You Need To Focus On Products That Moisturise” - Dr. Wedad, Dermatologist

"In the first five years after menopause, collagen production decreases by 30% and continues to decline. As oestrogen drops, your skin might feel itchy and become drier, with increased sensitivity, and creams may feel thicker or stickier, though absorption stays the same. You don’t need to change your entire skincare routine, just focus on moisturising ingredients like Ceramides, Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, Panthenol, and Niacinamide."

UKHAIR Hair Serum For Menopause

“Don’t Shy Away From Regular Hair Washing” - Angela Onuaha, Trichologist

“When people notice more hair loss, they often avoid washing their hair - but please wash your scalp! Skipping wash days causes buildup and inflammation, leading to even more hair loss. Always cleanse, condition, and protect: cleanse with a gentle shampoo as your scalp might be dry, condition your strands, which might feel a bit more brittle and protect both hair and scalp. Use a scalp serum (like the UKHAIR Hair Growth Serum) after showering to nourish and protect, just like a face serum, but for your scalp.”

“Get a Blood Test” - Anthea Turner

“We’re talking about topical treatments and medical-grade skin prep, but when my hair was breaking, I focused on health, cutting out sugar and improving my diet. Beauty starts from within; it’s what you eat. It’s also worth getting a blood test to check your nutrient and vitamin levels before taking supplements. Don’t rely on what social media says; find out what your body needs, or it could be a waste.”

“Use a Lash & Brow Serum” - Dr. Wedad, Dermatologist

“Low oestrogen shortens the hair growth cycle, making lashes and brows thinner. First, check for underlying conditions like thyroid issues, eczema, or psoriasis, as these can cause inflammation and hair loss. If none are present, it’s likely due to menopause-related oestrogen drop. Using a Lash Serum and Brow Serum can help make them look healthier, fuller, and longer.”

Menopause is a unique journey; no two experiences are the same, but it’s one that no woman should have to face alone. By encouraging open conversations and sharing expert insight, we can help more women approach this transition with understanding, confidence, and care.

From nourishing your skin and hair to supporting your overall wellbeing, the event’s key takeaways remind us that beauty and vitality truly have no age limit. With the right knowledge and self-care, every stage of womanhood can be a time of strength, balance, and radiance.

At UKLASH, we’re proud to support our community through every change, because when you feel confident in your own skin, you Never Stop Growing.
